Village Mixes Earns "Best New Product" Award

New Hampshire company's product voted "best in show" by an international audience at annual New England Specialties Showcase.

Strafford, New Hampshire, March 8, 2004 -- Village Mixes, a fast-growing specialty foods company, today announced that its Pumpkin Spice Spread was voted Best New Product at the New England Products Trade Show held in Portland, Maine in early March.

Over 2000 national and international buyers attended this annual show, which features an array of New England products and foods displayed by more than 300 companies. Each year, attendees vote on the product they feel "represents the best of New England craftsmanship," according to conference organizers. This year, the award went to Village Mixes' Pumpkin Spice Spread.

According to Patricia Houle, founder and president of Village Mixes, attendees were impressed by the product's distinctive packaging, which features the artwork of award-winning folk artist Lisa Carpenter, and by the delicious taste of the creamy dip.

"Everyone we talked to raved about our packaging. It is so unique, and the buyers recognize that this striking packaging is very appealing to consumers," Houle said. "But I believe it's the taste of Pumpkin Spice Spread that really won this award for us. It is absolutely scrumptious - sweet, with just a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. Even non-pumpkin lovers get hooked after just one bite."

Houle credited artist Carpenter, designer Graphic Details of Portsmouth, NH, and printer DS Graphic of Chelmsford, MA, for their outstanding contributions in designing and producing the product's attractive packaging. As for the dip itself, Houle said the Pumpkin Spice Spread is a family recipe that has been a fixture at many family gatherings through the years.
